Big plans for UK Fairtrade Foundation
By admin • Jun 3rd, 2008 • Category: fairtradeAccording to a new report from The Fairtrade Foundation in the UK they want to see the market for Fairtrade products increase to £2bn a year by 2012. That is 4 times the current level, so we can safely call that very expansive plans.
The plan also talks about how they want to increase awareness for the Fairtrade brand among the UK consumer, a brand that saw a huge increase in awareness in the last year. One of the expected big growth areas are within Fairtrade bakery products, as bakers use many Fairtrade products, including sugar and cocoa. They mention among others Devine Chocolate move into baked goods category with chocolate chip cookies, muffins and brownies made from 70% dark Fairtrade chocolate.
We wish the Fairtrade Foundation good luck with their growth plans.
