Leeds Metropolitan University achieves Fairtrade status
By admin • May 19th, 2008 • Category: fairtradeWhen i came across this news on the Times Online i had to write a little about myself as well, since i am a proud alumni of the university (class of 2005 MSc Marketing).
Leeds Metropolitan University has always been in the forefront when it comes to being environmental friendly, including being the first university in England to achieve ISO14001 international standard for environmental management, and getting the top spot in the People & Planet eco-friendly league tables of Universities.
Today 85% of the University’s energy comes from renewable sources and about 73% use public transport or car share. In keeping with their green profile they are also offering Fairtrade coffee in their Student Union, and Fairtrade tea and chocolate in their university stores.
Way to go Leeds Met, keep up the good work!
