Popularity of Fairtrade is skyrocketing
By admin • May 11th, 2008 • Category: fairtradeTalk about perfect timing. On the international fair trade day, the Fairtrade Foundation was able to release results from research that showed that 70% of UK consumers recognize the Fairtrade brand, an increase of 13 percent from 2007.
Not only has the recognition of the Fairtrade mark increased, but the understanding of what it stands for has also skyrocketed as 64% of the population recognize that the Fairtrade brand stands for a better deal for producers in developing countries.
The research also shows that 1 out of 4 shoppers now regularly buy Fairtrade products. This also reflects the explosive growth in sales of Fairtrade products.
This is great news for the Fairtrade Foundation and the work they do, and we recommend you all to help support their work. But we also want all of our readers to remember that Fairtrade is not the only way for producers in developing countries to be treated fairly.
