Starbucks using consumer feedback to improve on service and products
By admin • Mar 30th, 2008 • Category: fairtradeThe coffee chain Starbucks, as if any of us needs an introduction to who Starbucks is, recently launched a new customer feedback site called MyStarbucksIdea.com allowing people to suggest changes and new products and vote on them.
There are already signs that Starbucks are listening to their customers suggestions, and hopefully they will listen to some of the good ideas from customers on green and fairtrade initiatives as well. Starbucks is already selling fairtrade coffee at their stores, and to degrees supporting fairtrade farmers, although as with everyone else they can do more.
Lorna Li has scattered through some of the customer suggestions and identified some of the ares for consumers would like to see Starbucks getting better on green and fairtrade:
- Stop thrashing empty cards
- Sell reusable sleeves
- Get better at recycling
- Reusable cups
- Real fruit smoothies that are of course fair trade sourced
- Fairtrade coffee only… although i would prefer that Starbucks ensures that the quality of the coffee is still kept up to todays standard, but happily see more fairtrade coffee choice (as you can see i like my Starbucks coffee)
Starbucks has also been commended on their corporate social responsibility program, including the gold medal from the World Environment Center for their sustainable development work. Starbucks often come under fire from activists, but truth is they do a lot more than most other multinational companies their size, including other coffee companies as well.
