Worldwide demand for fairtrade cotton doubles

The report states that in 2007 garments ranging from jeans, towels to cotton wool surpassed 14 million individual items. The doubling in sales came on the back on positive sales in new areas such as Australia, Germany and Italy. Consumers spent over 2.3 billion euros on Fairtrade certified products supporting 1.5 million producers in 58 developing countries.
